Many firms prefer not to seek outside finance and instead depend exclusively on government assistance. In an attempt to assist such firms, both the State and the Federal government have come up with various entrepreneur programs. Below mentioned are a few of such entrepreneur programs and grants that have been announced by various local governments to encourage businesses.

Women Entrepreneurs in Business NSW

Women in Business provides females entrepreneurs living or working in NSW with availability to a fully subsidised online programme to assist them in establishing a new local company or consolidating an existing small business.

The programme includes the following features:

  • 24×7 accesses to a variety of subjects that can be perfectly matched to meet your specific requirements
  • Ideas from Australia’s most successful female entrepreneurs
  • Access to small business events, as well as additional resources and services

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be at least 18 years old and identify as female
  • Be establishing or owning a business in New South Wales with 0 to 199 staff members
  • Have a valid Australian business number (ABN)
  • Reside or work in New South Wales
  • be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder or a New Zealand citizen

Entrepreneur Development Loan Fund EDLF ACT

The Entrepreneur Development Loan Fund program provides unsecured loans to ACT enterprises to assist with the expenses of expansion and development. A maximum amount of $20,000 can be claimed under this program.

Loans can be used for a variety of developments schemes, such as:

  • Restructuring the company in order to expand into new markets and regions
  • Generating new skills and information that will aid the company’s continued/accelerated growth
  • The expenses of equipment and materials needed to complete an existing or forthcoming contract or project

Applications are now open and can be made anytime.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be a registered business in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) with an ABN or an ACN
  • Have the approval of all shareholders and board members (if necessary)
  • Having a product or service that already exists
  • Be able to repay the debt without any undue strain on the company
  • Have a revenue of less than $1 million per fiscal year

Growth Grants

Growth Grants are a type of Entrepreneurs’ Programs that aid in the expansion of your business. The Entrepreneurs’ Program gives participants access to a nationwide network of skilled facilitators. They’ll collaborate with you to enhance your business procedures, increase company competitiveness, and share their knowledge on how to capitalise on growth prospects. You may be able to receive up to 50% of the costs for an approved project. The minimum matching fund available under this program is $2500, and the maximum (excluding of GST) is $20,000.

Eligibility Criteria

You should have received a completed plan from one of the services listed below:

  • Growth Roadmap
  • High Growth Accelerator
  • SMART Projects and Supply Chains

Eligible activities must:

  • Connect to a business area as specified in your plan
  • Provide you with new trading abilities in Australia and other countries

Your project should:

  • Include only activities that are eligible
  • Have a total project cost of at least $5,000 and is yet to start

Applications are now open; however, please remember that you must submit your application within 1 year of receiving your roadmap or plan.
