Small and medium sized businesses are given utmost importance by the Australian governments both at the federal level and state levels. These businesses not only generate revenue but also employment for hundreds of thousands of Australians. Most of these businesses have faced a lot of difficulties in recent times because of lockdowns and other restrictions imposed on account of Covid-19 pandemic. Here are some small business lockdown assistance grants announced to provide monetary relief to the businesses affected.

Small business Lockdown Assistance Grants Program

Recently a strict lockdown of 3 days was observed in Perth and Peele regions of Western Australia to prevent the spread of the deadly Coronavirus. It caused monetary and other difficulties for small and medium sized business owners operating in these regions. Realising their difficulties, the Western Australian government has announced lockdown assistance grants to assist business owners that have been affected. A one-time grant of $2,000 would be given to business owners who have experienced financial problems or loss of perishable goods on account of lockdowns and closures.

Applications for this grant can be made online in late May, while grants would be distributed in June and July.

Eligibility criteria

  • Your business must have suffered losses on account of cancellations of bookings from customers or direct losses because of lockdowns
  • Business must be located in Perth or Peele region
  • It must be registered under GST
  • Its payroll should be less than $4 million

Covid-19 Lockdown Grants for Small Businesses

The local government of Shire of Mundaring has announced a grant of $2,000 for businesses affected by recent lockdowns imposed by the administration. It is a one-off grant directed at providing financial assistance to business owners negatively impacted by direct losses and booking cancellations from customers due to closures. This grant is aimed at providing relief to businesses in many sectors like hospitality, catering, hair and beauty treatments, florists, cinemas, bars, pubs, health and wellness, gyms, and bakeries.

Eligibility criteria

  • Your business must be located in the local government area of Shire of Mundaring in Perth
  • Business must be able to demonstrate financial losses because of lockdowns
  • It must be registered under GST
  • Annual payroll should not be more than $4 million

Small Business Covid-19 Adaptation Grant

Small business Covid-19 adaption grant is a program aimed at helping small businesses negatively impacted because of lockdowns and other restrictions imposed by the authorities on account of Covid-19. This grant from Queensland government has the sole objective of allowing small businesses experiencing losses because of lockdowns to sustain and become resilient. Applications are being accepted for regional Queensland now.

Eligibility criteria

  • Your business must have remained closed on account of lockdowns
  • Your business must have suffered a decline of not less than 30% in revenues on account of onset and management of Covid-19
  • Your business must be located in regional Queensland
  • It must be registered under GST
