A sole trader is legally responsible for all aspects of his or her company, including debts and losses, as well as day-to-day business decisions. Many traders are experiencing financial difficulties as a result of the recent lockdowns. The State government is aware of the situation and has announced a slew of incentives for merchants. The following are a few grants that the State Government have announced for local businesses:
COVID-19 Business Support Grants QLD
The COVID-19 Business Support Grant provides assistance to Queensland single traders, enterprises, and non-profits to keep them alive and rebuild from shutdowns in August 2021.
The amount of money available will be determined by the size of the payroll of qualified firms and non-profits:
- $1,000 – for self-employed single traders in Queensland
- $10,000 – small enterprises and not-for-profits in Queensland with payrolls of less than $1.3 million
Criteria
- From 30 June 2021, you must have an ABN
- Be subject to the goods and services tax (GST)
- Must have a headquarter in Queensland
- Establish that a shutdown event had a direct or indirect influence on the firm or non-profit organisation
Applications for COVID-19 Business Support Grants QLD are now open and will close on 16 Nov 2021.
One Business QLD
One Business QLD program provides training, assistance, and guidance to QLD Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander entrepreneurs and small business owners to help them build routes to engage in the state’s innovation economy.
The training will include the following:
- Assist you in assuring your clients, investors, and staff that you might continue to trade despite the shifting environment
- Assist you in increasing your efficiency
- Assist you in promoting and highlighting your achievements
- Identify areas where you need to improve, and then make a plan to do so
The programme is divided into three sections:
- Workshops and a company health assessment are included in the first part of the program
- Digital workshops, procurement learning, and one-on-one mentorship are all part of the second phase
- Attending an event and networking, pitching, or marketing your business are included in the last part of the program
Applications for One Business QLD are now open and can be made any time.
Queensland Arts Showcase Program
Individuals, organisations, and collectives can apply for funding through the Queensland Arts Showcase Program that will help them produce arts and cultural events.
There are three funding streams available under the programme:
- Arts Accelerate
- Arts Activate
- Arts Advantage
Up to $3,000 of the allotted cash from all three streams can be utilised to buy items that will be directly related to the conception and delivery of the sponsored project. Up to $30,000 in one-time grants (sole-funding) and $60,000 in multi-year grants (co-funding) are available.
A company or organisation must:
- Have a valid ABN
- The applicant must have a bank account in his or her name
A person must have:
- Have a valid ABN
- The applicant must have a bank account in his or her name
- Applicants must be over the age of 18 or have a legal guardian’s sign in the form
